DAW TRACKING

Cubase, Nuendo & Pro Tools Save Tracking

How Sabes Pro tracks proprietary binary DAW session formats to give you complete version history and disaster recovery protection.

How Binary Session Tracking Works

Steinberg Cubase and Nuendo (.cpr, .npr) and Avid Pro Tools (.ptx) store project data in proprietary binary formats. Because these formats are closed, attempting to modify or inject code into them can risk session corruption.

Sabes Pro protects your work safely by operating at the file-system boundary:

  1. Instant Save Detection: When you press Ctrl+S in Cubase or Pro Tools, Sabes Pro detects that your session file was updated on disk.
  2. Safe Header & Stem Scanning: It inspects your project directory to record referenced audio files, bounce stems, file sizes, and exact timestamps.
  3. Deduplicated Backup Block Storage: Sabes Pro encrypts and stores only the altered backup blocks in your local repository.

What You Can Do With Cubase & Pro Tools Projects

  • Complete Timeline History: View every single save point in chronological order on your Take Reel.
  • 1-Click Take Recovery: Revert back to any previous mix state if a plugin crashes or a session gets corrupted.
  • Export Clean Project Copies: Extract any historical save as a standalone project folder without altering your active work.
  • BYOS Cloud Backup: Sync encrypted backup blocks to Amazon S3, Backblaze B2, or Wasabi automatically.
  • A/B Loudness Matching: Compare rendered audio bounces side-by-side using the built-in LUFS analyzer.
  • Take Certification: Create cryptographic milestone proofs for client handoffs and label deliveries.

Best Practice: Restoring a Session in Cubase or Pro Tools

Because Cubase and Pro Tools lock session files while they are open, follow these simple steps when restoring an older version:

  1. Close the project in Cubase or Pro Tools (or quit the DAW).
  2. In the Sabes Pro desktop app, click the Take you want to restore.
  3. Click Restore Take (in place) or Export Standalone (to a new folder).
  4. Reopen the session in your DAW. Your project will load at that exact historical state.

100% Non-Destructive Guarantee

Sabes Pro operates strictly in read-only mode while watching your sessions. It never alters your live .cpr, .npr, or .ptx files during normal production, keeping your audio sessions safe and rock solid.
